Demographic

Image
The population in Thailand is a very diverse group. The main ethnic group is Thai but there is a few different types, so depending on where you are it may vary when one is more then the others. It is estimated to have a 69 million people living there in 2018. The average life span is between 70 and 80 years. The main chunk of people is between the ages of 20 and 64. They used to have a big problem with AIDS so that lowered their population since so many people passed from it.

History

Thailand was first called Siam until 1939 and is abou the size of France. Evidence of human life dates back to 40,00 years ago. It was first not very populated and was mainly open land. This started to change as more and more people started to move to Bangkok. There has been many different periods that Thailand has went through. Most of it had to do with government changes and making piece with other states. One of the biggest influences on Thailand was India. They adopted many of their customs and values.

Transportation

Image
Thailand is very populated causing the streets to be very crowded. The best way to get around is public transportation. If your wanting to get around locally they have many different ways to get you where you need to go. There is a variety of taxis, bus, or even subway. The most well known one to tourists is the tuk-tuk (pictured below). It’s a Three wheeled taxi and the most expensive of them too. If your looking to go farther away they have trains and planes. A train is the obvious cheaper choice and you get to see the country side that you don’t usually get to when in a plane or the busy cities. Photo by flight catchers

Religion

Image
The main religion in Thailand is Buddhist, more specifically Theravada Buddhist. That makes up about 94% of Thailand. The other biggest religion is Muslim coming in at about 4%. Every man in Thailand must become a monk for a certain period of time before the age of 20. When you are a monk there is over 100 rules you have to follow. Sometime people won’t make it more then a few days. Thailand also has over 30,000 temples. I have added a picture of one of the well known ones called   The Big Buddha Temple At Koh Samui, in  Wat Phra Yai.

Climate

Thailand's climate is very similar to Florida's. It is usually always hot but for a few months it can cool off. The average low is 60 in December, January, February, and March. Also it has a rainy season from mid May to about October. Depending on where you are the rainfall may vary. Thailand is a tropical climate zone which means it is always hot and humid. The best time to visit is November and  February.
